Thoughts from the Bus Adventure

At first bus stop

1:13ish *checks bus book* Drat, they don't give transfers anymore. Well, that's one less thing I have to worry about, I guess.

On first bus

1:17ish Oooooh! Accordion bus! ACCORDION BUS! *sits in middle*

whole ride to the mall, i.e. till about 1:30 This is just weird. It's, like... moving around me. Hopefully it won't move out from under me.

At the bus kiosk at the maul

1:34 ...why is that guy talking to himself? Bad enough he's smoking a cigar, I don't want him to turn out to be a Miami-style looney, too...

And I hope I don't get on an eastbound by mistake.

1:45ish Why is this strange woman talking to me? Yes, I'm drawing, that is not a reason for a conversation! The compliment is okay, I guess, but you don't need to start asking about my schooling!

sometime between then and 2:05 Wow, the OC buses are in way better condition than the LA Metro ones. That back panel is about to fall off... to say nothing of the doors, which look precariously attached at best.

And someone else is talking to me! Gah! Do I have "Please converse with me" tattooed on my forehead?

Whee, getting close to bus time [2:09], better get my buck out. I'm very glad I made mom give me two, or I'd be stranded at maul.

2:10 A bus! ...wrong bus.

2:11 A bus! ...Metro bus.

A bus! ...my bus! And it even says La Habra on it. Westbound!

On second bus

not written down, but thought immediately after getting on Holy crap, this bus has the old-style farebox, the one I'm used to, the one I had to get unused to in order to comprehend the new box in the other bus... WHY must they CONFUSE me like this?

2:15 So now I'm on the bus. Not an accordion, sadly. Also a bit more crowded than the last. Still empty enough that I can take up two seats, though. Yay for sitting sideways.

Incidentally, you guys, neither bus talked. And the first bus driver didn't even announce any of the stops or cross-streets. The second driver announced maybe... two. Buncha jerks.

2:22 ...what the hell? Bus-stop art (of which we have a lot in Brea for some reason) that takes Van Gogh's Starry Night and turns it into a picture of some building in Brea that I recognize but couldn't name offhand. That's just... obscenely wrong.

And there's mom's work... AND THERE'S MOM'S CAR! And there's a stop right here. And we're stopping right here. Hey, if I wanted, I could get off and bother her at work. Considering I'd then have to walk about three miles home, though, I think I'll refrain.

2:28 Okay, better pull the cord, don't want to miss stop, don't want to miss stop... oh. Someone just pulled it. Well. That solves that then.

Off the bus

2:32 I'm... home?

The end.

I'm currently high off the "OH MY GOD I DID IT AND SURVIVED!" ness, but I expect that in about half an hour or an hour I'll have a residual-panic attack. Still. I did, in fact, survive. Freaked out and got off the first bus one stop too early, but that basically meant I'd gotten off on the sidewalk bordering the mall instead of at the kiosk in the mall parking lot. Big whoop. Two minutes' walking got me where I needed to be. If anyone asks, I was just tired of canned air and needed to get outside.

Accordion bus (http://www.busexplorer.com/NABus/MidSize/NashvilleNeoplanAN460.html).

I don't live in Nashville, but I couldn't exactly find any pictures of OCTA accordion buses, so...

Lousy eastern North Carolina. We don't have cool stuff like that here. *kicks the nearest available tobacco field*

It's not hard to survive Ness, provided he doesn't come at you with his home-run bat.

........*dies*

Is that a good "dies" or a bad "dies"?

Oh, right. No HTML allowed in subject. I certainly wish I would have remembered that earlier.

An amused one.
