Merrick Legacy, preamble + 1.1

Preamble:
This is a Sims 2 legacy using a founder I created, and all Maxis townie spouses -- basically, I've got all ten billion Pleasantview Sims in my custom neighborhood, but no desire to just kill them outright. (Yes, I know I could've started with a blank template. Would you like to re-do all the Sim-creating I did before realizing my mistake? Because I wouldn't.) Some of them get makeovers to not be Maxis-y, and get used elsewhere in the 'hood; but some will be cleverly knocked out of the townie pool by marrying them into the Merricks. No rules on spouses besides Maxisity.

I reserve the right to cheat mildly... no motherlode-ing, but I'll kaching if I think events warrant (example: expensive furniture glitches and needs to be burninated and then replaced), and I've got various pieces of the Insimenator in place to change clothes and suchlike. I also have ACR, the downloadable crystal ball, and Pescado's noeatcrap. (And a ton of other mods, but I can't think of any that are really worth mentioning.)

My default replacement skins are bits of pooklet's My Poor Lover. My default replacement eyes are Bruno's Kylie eyes. Although I don't hugely like them, and will probably switch eventually.

So here is our lovely house...


And our lovely founder! Titania Merrick is a Family Sim, 5/4/5/6/5 (which, believe it or not, I got via a series of die rolls). She's into redheads in swim trunks, and doesn't go in for custom hair, which shouldn't be a problem as I basically never use it. Rounding out her basic stats is her LTW: to reach her golden anniversary. How sweet!


Of course, right now, I'm guessing she might settle for having a single piece of plumbing besides the toilet.


The paperboy comes by at 10, and there aren't any jobs that she can take and still go today, so I just go for the best pay, which lands her in the science track. Then I have her eat a sandwich in her elegantly-appointed living room, ignoring the welcome wagon when they show up. They're all playables I've carefully assembled from custom content, and Titania is destined for something else...


...something more exotic...


...something more Maxisy. :D


Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of Maxis ugly at the nightclub today. The sim Titania seems most interested in is Glen, who's boring to me because he looks fairly human. He's also definitely not a redhead in swim trunks.


Sorry, Chandler, you were generated with a downloaded face template, and thus are too pretty for this legacy. Take that red hair elsewhere!


The trip downtown is a bust, and Titania's exhausted, and I'm realizing that grinding out trips downtown until she finds an ugly Maxis townie with whom she has good chemistry will take until she's about 83 and a half. So, since I'm not playing this legacy by anyone's rules but my own, I allow myself one kaching and purchase the Find-A-Mate crystal ball. Then it's a few clicks until Titania has one Hayden Hiatt standing before her. He's no redhead, but they do have two bolts, and -- more importantly -- in the space of an evening I'm able to get them on a date, spam the meter up with social interactions, and eke out a dream date without leaving the lot.


Even if he apparently thinks that getting with a mortal chick would be ~~settling~~.


Things have moved pretty well along by the second date, although Family sim Titania and Knowledge sim Hayden have... slightly different priorities. (He wants to know things... Biblically.)


My game has a super-annoying bug where I can't move sims in via marriage... I can cheat them in, or add them via the neighborhood screen, but asking in-game for someone to move or marry in never works. At first I thought it was happening because Hayden was a YA, but... no, it happens to everyone. Probably a hack conflict; I haven't bothered to suss it out yet.


So one pointless jaunt through college + one teleportation later, Hayden becomes the first spouse of the legacy! Titania doesn't even bother changing out of her PJs, because she's hardcore.


Bonus: this way she stays completely broke! ...that may not actually be a bonus.


Just short this time, since gen 1 is kind of boring. It looks like updates are averaging around 70 pictures per throughout gen 2, and I think the same is going to be true for gen 3. Not that said updates exist on the Intertubes, you understand; I just write it in notepad++ as I go.
