*whew*

My dad just brought over an almost-complete, mint-in-box, first-run, potentially-valuable set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figures.

My (16-year-old) brother began crying and shouting when I maintained that he should hold off on ripping them open, on the off-chance that they were actually worth something.

Sheesh.

It took about an hour, but finally I hit on the solution -- if he wants Turtle toys, why not give him my own set? He didn't want them for collector value -- he just wanted to play with them. Or to hold them, as he tearfully asserted several times. Yeesh. So now he has my decade-old, much-played-with, and monetarily worthless set, and he's happy. And the MIB shiny toys are safe.

...I hope.

Are you sure they're not the ones they rereleased a couple years back? They look almost identical (both the toy and the packaging) to the originals from the late 80s.

I think these've been in a box since before the re-released ones... plus the only date on them is 1988! At least, it's the only date on the ones I checked. And I'm fairly sure that when I curiously checked the back of a box while in the toystore a few months ago, it had a 199something date on it... *g*
