Dear power:

Please do not go out when 1) it is dark outside, and 2) I am completely alone. BECAUSE I'M FRIGGIN' SCARED OF THE DARK, GODDAMNIT.

Love,
me.

May I recommend the wonders of LED flashlights? They're small, lightweight, and don't die if you drop 'em. Also, when the batteries/battery dies/die/defenestrate, the light dims out gradually over a long period of time, instead of dying suddenly.

The Photon Micro Lights (and any of the knockoffs) are great. The Inova X5 light I have is just comical overkill, but works very well. Mmmm... ZERTastic.

If you have a light of some sort in your pocket or attached to something that is at any given time, you'll never have to worry about tripping over stuff in the dark. Well, assuming you aren't running from one of the monster-mecha-thingies from Vision of Escaflowne, or Guu, or someone like that.

That is why glow in the dark plastic things are a necessity.

We have a glow in the dark plastic whale skeleton on the bookcase, but it's more creepy than useful... I just need a flashlight at my desk, consarnit. It's where I am most of the time anyway.
