There is plainly little point in disabling comments, since nobody respects the implication anyway.

Since some other people close comments on a post (or on their journals) in order to close comments on that post/journal;

since they even make it clearer by action that they don't mean that the discussion is closed, but that they just want to, say, take it elsewhere (for example);

you can only make it clear by... making it clear. In my present mood I feel like saying more but that signifies, conveys.

It just seems fairly logical to me that if someone has made the conscious effort to remove the ability to comment, they must not want comments.

(And since I now notice that receiving these comment notifies is breaking my Gmail, either because of Gmail itself, because of my Mac, because of your choice of a journal title, because of what's behind door #4, or some combination... I withdraw the suggestion.)
