Merrick Legacy, 4.3

I should probably actually get around to posting stuff, huh.

General warning: sometimes I swear.

Last time: Ruthie died and I was sad. This was also perhaps not the best thing for the kids, as it left them with no "responsible" "adults" watching over them except the evil supervillain with the doomsday device, and the crazed womanizing Romance sim who kept rolling wants to marry half the town. Drew became a teenager with a gigantic chin; jerkface Derek died; Aldo and Toby became teens with more normal-sized chins. Michael re-impregnated Toby's mom Roxie, and Adrian was abducted by aliens! They gave him back, though.

Last week at work I started sharing an office with someone. This week she started keeping a sword by the door. I have concerns. )

Next time: probably the gen 2 spares update, since I've got it almost finished. And then, for the main line here, college! I don't know exactly what will happen because I haven't actually played much more yet. I do know that I'm trying to figure out my favorite for heir, and having a hard time picking between delightfully derpy Adrian and neat-point-having, darker-skinned, founder's-mouth-inheriting, otherwise-boring Aldo.

Merrick Legacy, 4.2

This weekend I saw a bunch of awesome indie horror movies at the Muvico theater in Greater Chicago Area! Seven of them were zombie films, and predictably enough, there was very little in these offerings that was even tolerant of the Differently Animated, let alone accepting. I did get to see Juan Of The Dead finally, though (it was awesome aside from all, y'know, the anti-zombie violence). And Thirsty for the fourth time. We bought slushies at the concession stand for Thirsty, because you gotta get your slushy. I really wish they would put it out on DVD already, or at least put up a trailer that gives you a better idea of how much awesomeness you're getting. I'm not even linking to the trailer because it sort of ruins some of the surprises of the film.

We also went to IKEA, but once again I was cheated and saw little in the way of oak or pine, and absolutely no Norsemen.

General warning: sometimes I swear.

Last time: Generation three heir Michael woohooed with lots of women, and managed to get some of them pregnant! Four babies were born: Drew, to townie Jaiden Trimble; Adrian, to furry llama cultist Daisy Smith; Toby, to Maxis-made playable dormie Roxie Sharpe; and Aldo, to townie Trista Raha. Drew was left on the floor stewing in his own poop a lot. Michael decided that teaching his babies how to do things was as much or more fun than doing the thing which makes more babies, which is frankly kind of messed up for a Romance sim. There was a family reunion where 4234853892 Merricks showed up, and gen 3 spare Jeremy cried like a little baby. We finished up with all the kids as children except for Aldo, who was still a toddler.

Even if you're not gonna drink it, you should still get it, y'know? Get the most out of life. )

Next time: Aldo becomes a teenager, and the last baby of gen 4 is born! Merrick teenagers continue to be abducted by aliens, and Merrick ghosts continue to make people pee themselves. Michael gets old, all the kids leave for college, and I finally make a new Merrick icon out of one of my favorite Merrick screenshots ever. SO EXCITINGGGGG

Merrick Legacy, 4.1

Wait, it's been HOW long since I bothered to post? (Part of the problem is ARGH ENDLESS WAR ROOM AT WORK TO FIX CUSTOMER ISSUE I HAVE TO BE UP AT 7 EVERY MORNING WHYYYYY, and part is that I wanted to post the gen 2 spares update before I started gen 4 main... but that ain't happening for a while yet.)

I also got around to responding to a couple of comments on previous posts finally.

Last time: Cassandra got engaged to dormie Jonathan who had a mutual loathing of dormie Cooper who was lusted after by Duncan who slept with dormie Dominic who is in the furry llama cult which Michael got kidnapped into. Knute banged the gardener who was also banging Jeremy who obviously wanted to bang his sister who got knocked up by dormie Forrest.

It really is like a soap opera sometimes.

Click this link to get rainbow swirl ice cream! Honest! )

Next time: Michael loses his tiny Romance-y mind! Birth, death, and alien obsessions occur! All the bastards get to talk to their moms, in some cases for the first time ever! All in all, a happy time in this loving, well-adjusted household.

Last time: everyone amped the creep-factor up to 11! The llama mascot, who is now an evil comic-book villain because I say so, unleashed his fiendish plot to make cheerleaders pee themselves. Some dude stood behind a tree to staaaaare at college girls. Cassandra decided that being a Knowledge sim meant she should have sex with as many dudes as possible, and Jeremy and Crystal had a nice long talk about their incestuous urges. Michael dated the cow! Duncan dated a dormie named Dominic! And Cassandra got slapped around by blue hair on account of that whole SLEEPING WITH MULTIPLE DUDES IN SEQUENCE thing.

Heehee bawk-bawk-bawk derrrrp. )

Next time: generation four! Bastards everywhere! Screaming babies! And Michael starts getting confused on just how a Romance sim should be handling the situation.

Merrick Legacy, 3.5

Thursday morning I got a chicken pox vaccination, and now the back of my arm is swollen and itchy. :( :( :(

I remain, however, staunchly pro-vaccine. Millions of people -- a large number of them children -- dead each year from stupid preventable diseases, or MAYBE autism if you believe one study by some quack which has been retracted and debunked, and ignore the fact that autism rates have continued to rise even as immunizations go down? Oh man, you're right, put away those needles! MOAR DED KIDS PLZ.

I'm not an actress, though, so I obviously don't know what I'm talking about. Moving on!

Last time: gen 3 went to college! Crystal peed herself, and Tiffany got herself knocked up IN THE FIRST SEMESTER OF FRESHMAN YEAR and thus dropped out. The boys didn't fare too much better in the smarts department, though, since Knute made "friends" with the telescope-spyee. Duncan met the very intense Dominic, Knute had a commendation put in with Starfleet Command, and Crystal and Jeremy started spending a lot of time sitting together talking about makeouts. There was a disturbing amount of sex, that modifier mainly coming from the fact that everyone is ignoring my ACR acceptance threshholds. :( :(

This Saturday night, Furious Kitten opening for Outrageous Flavor. Doors open at 8. )

Next time: romance is in the air! Also fistfights. Also furries! Also someone else gets college pregnant LIKE A COMPLETE MORON. Oh, and a little something called THE END OF GEN 3 YAY. All that and Cassandra continuing to suck at Knowledge simming, whenever I get to posting it!

General warning: sometimes I swear.

Last time: the second set of triplets got into private school through the magic of bad schmoozing gaining positive schmooze points. Cassandra got abducted by aliens! But she didn't get teen alien pregnant, which made me sad. Then she almost had hot tub sex with a hot alien college boy, except Duncan interrupted her by getting abducted. Cass went off to college; the second set of triplets hit teen, and Knute was the THIRD child of the generation to want to get abducted by aliens. These last three kids all annoyed me by being pretty. Ruthie and jerkface Derek got old, I sent the older triplets to college, and Knute got abducted and then IMMEDIATELY rolled the want to do it again.

I've rerouted this post through the primary ODN conduits using a spatula. )

General warning: sometimes I swear.

Last time: Titania died, and I went on a tangent about The Price Is Right. Ruthie had a SECOND set of triplets -- Crystal, Tiffany, and Knute. The nanny was stupid. Cassandra and the FIRST set of triplets ARGH RUTHIE WHY became teenagers, and Cass and Duncan both decided they wanted aliens in their butts. The second set of triplets RUTHIIIEEEEE became children, and Tiffany garnered heir points by reading a story to her grandfather's ghost. Jerkface Derek achieved his LTW by becoming a Criminal Mastermind, and began pioneering the fashion trend of supervillain spiky armor + baseball cap.

The truth is out there... sitting in the hot tub... wearing neon-green shorts )

Next time: college! Featuring sex, public urination, and the nerdiest date in the history of sim dating. And if you're wondering how I manage to play seven kids through college... well, it isn't seven for long.

Merrick Legacy, house tour

I actually wrote up a house tour in between 3.2 and 3.3. So here it is instead of a real update! Suckerrrrs.

General warning: sometimes I swear.

Specific warning: 25 pictures, now with moar pause lines, of the house in what I think is FINALLY its ultimate form, at least until Frieza comes back with his cousins Kenmore and Maytag and we all need to undergo power level inflation again. Spoils the number of kids in gen 3 and their names/some of their appearances but nothing else really.

HOWSE )

Next time: aliens! Birthdays! Disappointingly attractive children! Old people! More aliens! And a fine sprinkling of blasphemy to top things off. (For real this time.)

Everyone at work got two locally-made truffles today! Free chocolate is the best chocolate.

Also, sims. Yessss made it to posting 3.2 while still playing gen 3. It's way more fun to play than to post, but then I want to look back over previous adventures and realize I can't.

Last time: gen 3 was born, in the form of Cassandra! Hayden died, and jerkface Derek and Titania tried to bathe the hula zombies. Triplet boys were born -- Jeremy, Michael, and Duncan. Michael secured a spot in my heart early on by first puking on jerkface Derek, and then turning out to have zero nice points. Hayden's ghost roamed the halls, scaring everyone except the Knowledge sim who would have enjoyed it. With Titania's lifebar growing perilously full, I threw her a family reunion so she could spend some time with all her various descendants.

Grimmy is sort of like a Bizarroverse Santa Claus. He has to be potentially everywhere in the world at 6PM every day. )

General warning: sometimes I swear.

Last time: jerkface Derek joined the Merrick gen 2 kids in uni, in his capacity as spouse-elect to the gen 3 heir, Ruthie. Eula got uni pregnant! Edda got uni pregnant! Edda miscarried. Then she got uni pregnant again! Also, I proved to my satisfaction that the gypsy hated Edda, based on a series of blind dates with gay or bi guys who were more attracted to Mark. For his part, Mark broke a Family sim's heart by not seeing their one date together as the beginning of a lifetime commitment. Everyone graduated, Ruthie went back to the legacy house, she and Derek got married, and gen 3 became imminent.

The end of generation 2! Gen 3 is going to be either six or seven parts. I don't know because I'm not quite done playing it. (Finish posting 2 before finishing playing 3 win!)

Also I decided I didn't like the rate at which I was using up my LJ storage space, so I'm throwing everything on photobucket for this post. We'll see whether that causes the heat-death of the entire universe or anything like that. (It does turn out to cause extreme irritation when I discover that if you edit a picture, keep the same filename, and then re-upload, then what actually winds up in your photobucket album is the old version, even if you save to and upload from a new folder! GOOD JOB PHOTOBUCKET GUYS)

Previous entries:
Preamble + 1.1
2.1 | 2.2 | 2.3 | 2.4

General warning: sometimes I swear.

Last time: Eula was possessed by an eldritch thing from beyond Yuggoth~went all the way~ with her college-age girlfriend, then left for college herself. Ruthie went steady with jerkface Derek the paperboy, then followed everyone else to young-adult-hood! I moved the kids into the Yig Hall dorms, which I picspam'd because I could. Classes were attended, majors were declared, and the lot got half-filled with invisible date reward objects before I put a stop to the madness. Edda had a matchmaker date with a bi dude who was more attracted to her brother than to her (this will be important later). Ruthie and jerkface Derek ~took the next step in their relationship~ (in bed). Eula proposed to her girlfriend Brandi. Edda wrote in her diary about writing in her diary.

Finally, a little bit of drama! Also a llama. )

Next time: generation 3!

...and how did this post and last post get set as being made in March? I never touched the month dropdown on this post, and on the last post I accidentally changed it to January and then explicitly set it back to February...

General warning: sometimes I swear.

Last time: Hayden got old, and Ruthie became a teenager! Eula got a crush on... I'm not sure, an air molecule or something. The kids each had a date or three, and Ruthie found herself attracted to jerkface Derek the paperboy. I made the Merrick house really awesome, and Titania felt that the thing that best summed up her reaching her LTW was the hot tub that they didn't actually own. Hayden's own LTW-reaching apparently didn't involve fantasy hot tubs. There was a fire! Many feathers were sacrificed on the altar of awesome fun times! And I realized the lot was full of gremlinsinvisible date reward objects.

College ahead! Also, pixel sex. )

I'm still, a generation later, debating whether to download a no-censor-blur hack. On the one hand, the blur can block faces and such from some angles, which messes up picture-taking; on the other, I think some of my downloaded skins aren't barbie, and I really really don't want a faceful of pixelbits. First world problems, my friends.

Last time: the lot stopped breaking! Edda dated a dude old enough to be her grandpa, then had her first kiss with a random teen. Eula became a child, and Ruthie, the last child of gen 2, was born. The grocery lady took a bed, which made me sad. Mark became a teen and rolled Romance, delighting me with the sexy walk. I hated the nanny a lot. Ruthie hit toddler, then child; Eula hit teen and stymied my attempts to not make her look like a drag queen; Titania became an elder in adorable hair that made me sad again because I don't actually have it in gray. Titania then got promoted to party DJ, because I know I don't find it a good party till my grandma is the one spinnin' the tunes.

It's a celebration. Observe me celebrating. )

I just finished playing 3.2, so I should probably post 2.2. It's just that making a post takes like an hour and a half -- cropping/resizing/jpging the screenshots, and then uploading them and sticking them in the right bits of the post and blaaah. So boring. UNLIKE THIS UPDATE AMIRITE

Last time: the lot broke, twice! There was a burglar and a ghostly-but-not-actually-a-ghost grocery delivery woman. Somewhere in there Titania gave birth to three children, Edda, Mark and Eula. Then she threw up.

Love is in the air... or is that the plumbing again? )

Boop boop beep! That there is a post.

Merrick Legacy, preamble + 1.1

Preamble:
This is a Sims 2 legacy using a founder I created, and all Maxis townie spouses -- basically, I've got all ten billion Pleasantview Sims in my custom neighborhood, but no desire to just kill them outright. (Yes, I know I could've started with a blank template. Would you like to re-do all the Sim-creating I did before realizing my mistake? Because I wouldn't.) Some of them get makeovers to not be Maxis-y, and get used elsewhere in the 'hood; but some will be cleverly knocked out of the townie pool by marrying them into the Merricks. No rules on spouses besides Maxisity.

I reserve the right to cheat mildly... no motherlode-ing, but I'll kaching if I think events warrant (example: expensive furniture glitches and needs to be burninated and then replaced), and I've got various pieces of the Insimenator in place to change clothes and suchlike. I also have ACR, the downloadable crystal ball, and Pescado's noeatcrap. (And a ton of other mods, but I can't think of any that are really worth mentioning.)

My default replacement skins are bits of pooklet's My Poor Lover. My default replacement eyes are Bruno's Kylie eyes. Although I don't hugely like them, and will probably switch eventually.

SO EXCITING.

Stuff am here. )

Just short this time, since gen 1 is kind of boring. It looks like updates are averaging around 70 pictures per throughout gen 2, and I think the same is going to be true for gen 3. Not that said updates exist on the Intertubes, you understand; I just write it in notepad++ as I go.

I CARE AND THAT IS ENOUGH.

So basically all I do with my free time these days is play Sims 2! Because I loves it. And I have begun to play a legacy, because that's something I've wanted to do ever since I read about it years ago, but it's impossible in Sims 1 because genetics basically don't exist.

Nobody who is likely to read this will particularly care about my hastily-scribbled descriptions of the events in a half-decade-old game. I DON'T CARE. I'munna keep going until I get bored.

So here is my founder:

Her name is Titania, I made her in CAS, and she is going to have, like, a billion descendants.

MORE TO FOLLOW YO.
