It am teh raining. That almost makes up for the horrible lack of sleep I got last night.

*prepares to go off into the rain without an umbrella, as she owns none and sees no reason to change this*

In this, I am 'Everybody'.

[etavirP] Too lazy to set a comtitle, Tom says, "cool. I discovered a neat free audio editor for Windows, which has lots of potentially ant-inducing effects and stuff, and.... is somehwat Engrish."
[etavirP] Too lazy to set a comtitle, Tom says, ""untitled, do you save? Yes/No/Cancel""
[etavirP] Everybody says, "That's... nearly poetic."
[etavirP] Everybody says, "Untitled, do you save?"
[etavirP] Everybody says, "I'm impressed."
[etavirP] Everybody says, "Untitled, do you save? / Or do you, caring not for this, / This creation, these bytes you've crafted, / Consign it to bitbucket and move on?"
[etavirP] You take a bow.
[etavirP] Everybody says, "I'm not sure about the 'to bitbucket' part but if I throw in an article then it throws the meter off."
[etavirP] Too lazy to set a comtitle, Tom says, "Heeeee."
[etavirP] Eyebrowless, Chris puts some quarters in the meter while nobody's looking.
[etavirP] Everybody says, "NOW THE METER IS EXTREMELY OFF"
[etavirP] Everybody says, "THANKS A LOT"
[etavirP] Eyebrowless, Chris says, "BUT IT WILL NOT EXPIRE FOR SIX MORE HOURS"

Heh.

As I just said a few minutes ago in SocialMUX, the world is a funny, funny place, and I reserve the right to die [laughing] all over it.

Okay. So. See, a while ago I subscribed to the magazine Shonen Jump. It's been mentioned in this LJ before. I subscribed, and then began waiting for my first issue. And waiting. And waiting. And waiting. And, being myself, whining the whole time about how it wasn't coming.

Finally I received an issue. Only problem was, it was the third. And the magazine is made up of SERIALIZED manga, so missing the first two... ehh, not such a good.

So I went looking for back issues. Checked all over online; nada. Not a breath on the actual SJ site about back issues, even, which I still find sort of odd considering, well, y'know, SERIALIZED. Then I had mom call local book and comic book stores. Finally we found someplace that still had a few copies of ish 2, and I eBayed for myself, for only 300-ish-percent of newsstand price and only 900-ish-percent of part-of-subscription price, a copy of the first issue.

Second issue was secured in person at comic book store. Copy of first issue arrived, battered and with a bent-up Yu-Gi-Oh card but intact, in mail about a week after I sent the eBay guy his money order.

Also at about this time, what shows up in my mailbox? Why, subscription copy of ish 2. I boggle at this, and then move on with my life.

What came in the mail today?

Wait for it...

...

Copy of ish 1, from eBay guy.

Which means the battered copy I received WAS in fact my subscription copy, it was just sent after I gave up expecting it to come.

So. Like I said. I've now managed to spend an extra 20 dollars on redundant copies of issues 1 and 2 of this fine, fine publication (and that's not sarcasm; not only is the magazine itself an excellent piece of work, but it's damn cheap considering how much you actually get in each issue -- especially if you do tha charter subscription thang, then it works out to like $1.67 for THREE HUNDRED PAGES of stuff), in the process providing myself with endless minutes of amusement. All that stressing over getting issues, then all that stressing over spending extra money for a b0rked Yu-Gi-Oh card, and what do I wind up with in the end? Extra copies.

Anyone wanna buy one of my extras off me...?
