I now have exactly 42 LJ friends. Congrats, [livejournal.com profile] ohamsie.

On the subject of geek ness (see post below), don't try to tell me that people DON'T stereotype me based on how I look... today in theatre class we got our midterm back, and we discussed it both in terms of grading of this specific test, and in terms of general grading/preparation practices. I piped up and noted that they'd graded me down a point on a question that I had really gotten right. Logan offered to take the test back and re-grade and re-record and adjust my overall score, but I responded (truthfully) that I didn't really need the point.

And so the WHOLE class erupted in that indescribable sound that I'm sure most of you are very familiar with. The sort of "stupid geek! you go squish now!" group-crowd-sound that indicates that those around you are not amused (whether it be at you, or at someone else in the room). I faked a cringe, but at the same time I was realizing that I had pretty much just killed off my chances of making any friends in that class. Saright; semester's half over anyway, and there aren't a lot of terribly cool-seeming people in there.

But then when, five minutes later, another girl -- one who looks very much un-nerdy, I might add -- launched into a minitirade against those who don't pay attention in class, and finished up by saying that she herself didn't even really need to read the book to get good grades on tests and quizzes, what was the response from the class? Silence. None of that shocked/envious/angry/boggling reaction that I got.

Not that I'm upset or anything. It amused me more than anything else. Sociological interactions, up close and personal. Maybe I should major in soc...

Aww, you didn't have to do that. But I appreciate it! Thanks! Are you the person who does the Snail Dust comics? Because I read the whole archive yesterday and find them to be quite good.

I know I didn't have to, but I wanted to! Your entries amuse me. As do the colorforms on your site, btw, I was almost late to school this morning because I was having too much fun with those colorforms. :P

I am indeed the individual behind sd. And thank you very much for enjoying it. The subliminal messages make it that much easier for me to take over the world. Er, I mean -- *leaps out the window*

I love that reaction! I used to do that in my math classes at CCRI. I'd make sure that people knew the grade I got and then go on about how it was easy. In my statistics class they called me Hundred Boy (they noticed a theme in the scores of my tests). They all hated me! I'm bad at making friends, but at least I can get some reaction out of people!

People hating you? What a strange concept... not. ;P

You prolly got that groan b/c everyone else did poorly on the test. The other chick was speaking in generalities - people don't make a fuss about how good a person's doing, unless they feel like they suck.

Hadn't thought about it that way, but yeah, you could very well be right. And people did do horribly on that test. Someone got a 39! How can you get a 39 when you're in a class where the instructors ALWAYS give you study guides with EVERYTHING that's gonna be on the test?!

I'm okay. No, really.

...Either that

What, agai -- I mean, no! Killing is bad!

Unless it's the killing of Brian.

Dang it, I can't kill him. He got all huffy the last time. And we are getting married in January, so I suppose I can't kill him.

Good luck catching him to slay, tho'. I hear Socks are fast little devils.

I suppose I can always wait till he rolls into Cali and then kill him while he's being distracted by a hug from a Becky or a Katy... hafta make sure not to miss and kill said Becky or Katy, though.
