i yam a guru pokey
Oct. 15th, 2002 04:41 pmI got a letter from dad today. Included was a check for mom. He notes in the letter that because of what she has 'done to' him (asked him to support his own children? attempted to finish the divorce process, a process HE HIMSELF started years ago?), he no longer wishes to speak to her. So I got to be the one to handle the letter that, on the second page, added "oh, by the way, I have pneumonia! Want some germs? Sure you do! Here, have a bunch!" Well, not literally. But. I washed my hands very thoroughly after reading that letter.
Also in the mail was a letter from Verizon, who provide both our phone service and my sweet sweet broadband. Apparently there's a problem with the credit card they use for billing, and if we don't straighten it out in ten days then we lose phones. Hooray! I'm not sure, but I gather from overhearing a couple of the calls mom made that MSN is still charging us even though we cancelled months ago, and that we're expected to still pay even though our last bill contained no MSN charges whatsoever. Golly gosh, if only it worked that way. "Hi. You don't know me, but you owe me a million bucks on your credit card. Oh, don't bother to check the statement -- it doesn't show up there. Just rest assured, you do owe me money. Pay up."
Today was supposed to be payday, but nobody got paid. Apparently there's a problem with the checks and we don't get them till Thursday. La la la. It's nice not needing to actually support yourself off your paycheck, and therefore being able to shrug and say "nah, I don't mind not getting paid on time".
Yep yep yep.
