Sing the praises of p[l]ants
Nov. 16th, 2007 11:51 amWell, one of the succulents mentioned in an earlier post has gone dead. It was a very nice little thing and I gave it the prettier of the two pots we had free and how does it reward me? By dying. Phooey.
The other one, however, is still doing fine. And it was the super-awesome one I promised to post further about anyway.
So this particular plant looks something like this:

(image © by Flickr user _mm_, it's a Creative Commons picture which means I can share it here if I want as long as I note that it belongs to that person and not me so neener)
I thought it looked awesome, there in Lowes, and so I picked it up and pondered at it. And then I looked at the tag.
Its common name is "baby toes".
Now that, you must admit, is awesome. Yet it was not quite awesome enough to make me buy it.
Then I noticed the name of the genus.
Fenestraria.
What.
This is a plant that looks awesome, is known as "baby TOES", and has a taxonomic name that sounds like WINDOW.
So naturally I had to get it. I hope I can keeps it alives.
That, then, is the promised post about my superawesome new plant. I was going to actually take pictures of the one I got, and post them, but to be honest I simply can't be bothered to fight with the old, dying digicam and then look around for where I left the USB cable. So you get someone else's picture instead.
DELICIOUS BABY TOES
