Help needed

I need advice on how to, er, punk-ify an item of clothing. It's a fairly normal, standard zippered sweatshirt, drawstring hood, front pouch pockets, black. It's currently adorned with white fur, but that's temporary. I'd appreciate if anyone could give me advice on how to make it more punk-ish by Halloween (yeah, so I shoulda thought of the dressing up earlier, I've never been good at foresight!). Keep in mind that A) I don't want to do any permanent damage to the sweatshirt, as I'd like to be able to use it again, and B) whatever I do to it, I need to do it on a really teensy budget. The more painfully punk/pose(u)rish I can get this thing in the next few days, the better. Thing is, about the only things I can think of to do to it offhand are apply various patches and buttons from Hot Topic to it (which costs money which I don't have), or go out and buy a package of safety pins and slather them all over it (which costs quite a bit less but isn't really that much of an adornment by itself). All serious suggestions appreciated. All derisive comments in the vein of "you are a poser, shut up" will be ignored, because come on, people, I'm trying to do this for a COSTUME. Thursday after Halloween I plan to go back to my usual jeans and t-shirts, thanks much.
