Okay, about the job: it's an on-campus deal (well, technically off-campus, but it's only across the street, and in a building leased or something by CSUF) where I will basically be helping admin go paperless. They need people to scan in stuff and index the resulting files. What's doublefun is that the program they're using is under development -- so I get to play with computers while simultaneously helping debug stuff. Anyone who knows me well knows that I love ferreting out bugs. "Hmm, I wonder if it'll break if I do THIS..."

Pays $8.16 an hour. Minimum wage is $6.75. Considering this is my first job ever and I've no experience to claim or anything like that... eh, not too bad.

Also, I found ness of paperwork to print out and take, that they want but that I no longer technically have. It should do. They told me it would. It was just a matter of realizing that a proper fee statement would not be found under 'Student Fees' on the website, but rather under 'Registration'.

Tomorrow I have a Final From Hell, and then I go over to College Park (the aforementioned offcampus building) to fill out paperwork and stuff, and then I'll officially be employed. Woot.

Meanwhile, I'm still connected at a measly 31200, but then, I haven't tried reconnecting for some hours now. If my good numbers are still dead tomorrow then I shall have to do something.

Now I'll have money and if I see something like stripey socks or whatever else you happen to latch onto I can maybe buy them for you. ;)

Incidentally, "read-only" MP3s can be made not read-only by selecting it in some kind of file manager and fixing the attributes... you can prolly select the folder where your MP3s are stored, right-click on it, select "Properties," uncheck the Read-Only box, and hit Apply. :o

Yeah, someone else already told me that... if you ask me, though, it's counter-intuitive, because you have to alter the file in order to make it so you can alter the file...

It's "Protection for Dummies"

That's so some simpleton doesn't come in and accidentally save over a file that's important. "Hiding" files works similarly. It worked significantly better back in the days of DOS when it took 56 commands to open a file :P

(Naturally, the inherent flaw is that read-only-ness doesn't prevent accidental DELETION... :/ but Microsoft for you there, providing the "Hey, it's 'Recycled'--it's not deleted until it's deleted!" Bin... whatever)
