So out of the blue, someone sends me an email about how much nxn sucks. And I decide I'm bored so I'll respond. He writes back. I write back.

It's getting pretty amusing, actually.

First email, from him to me:

From: Random Assbutt <random@ass.butt>
Subject: its kinda stupid
i don't see any "artistic value" on any of your pages, the only one i half
liked was the spam one, other than that, they are all worthless.

Second email, from me to him:

Given that I don't recall claiming that the point of napoleon.xidus.net 
is "artistic value", it hardly bothers me to know that it apparently 
has none.  I find it odd that something that is not what it does not 
claim to be is therefore "worthless", but then, maybe I'm just not that 
bright.

Third email, from him to me:

Subject: Its really stupid
	Well you might want to check your site again.  Here's the url if you still
don't know what i'm talking about. 
 http://napoleon.xidus.net/pointless/amused.html.  If you can't find it, 
its at the end of the sentence!  Another question, did you make it, or much
less read it.  Because it says maintained by Napoleon, and, isn't that 
you??
	I have another bone to pick.  Its about the "Stange" pages. 
 http://napoleon.xidus.net/pointless/strange.html.  I'm not sure if they 
are supposed to be funny or not, but I don't get most of them.  The only 
one that was a little funny was the Prayer Ban.  The others were just down
right stupid.  I would hardly call your site a "piece of web madness".
	Let me say this, I usually don't send an e-mail to people who make 
worthless sites.  But yours was different.  Either by stupidity, 
loneliness, or geniuses(not likely) you said these 6 words on the strange
page "I like getting mail.  Hint, hint.  And that only provoked the abuse.
 I am wondering, just out of pure curiosity who you are, and what kind of
education you have had.  I'm asking because I could only expect this kind
of web site from a teenager.  But if you are in your 20s and 30s, you might
very well be crazy.  And the reason for making this site, I don't see any
reason for making this site, none at all!!!  I would also like to know if
your name is in fact Jenny Rowland?

Fourth email, from me to him:

Ahh... you're right, I had forgotten that.  Still, that isn't a claim 
that anything else on the site has artistic value.

Yes, that is me.  However, given that, as noted on the main page, I 
pretty much stopped maintaining it some three years ago, I hope my 
failing to remember one sentence can be excused.

Some were to be funny.  Some were just to be strange, hence the page's 
title.  Most lost their context once they were relegated to "archived" 
status -- the prayer ban jpeg, for example, was scanned off an issue of 
MAD magazine.

I'd think that you'd want to never send e-mail to such people, since by 
definition said sites aren't worth the time to write about.

At the time I was 18 or so.  It surely is a relief to know that I 
therefore have an excuse for my choice of content.

What reason does anyone ever have for making a personal website? 

Seriously, protesting someone's personal site's not being what *you* 
want it to be is sort of, well, petty.  Yes, the footers of various 
pages do ask for mail, but most don't take that as carte blanche to, as 
you put it, "abuse" me.
