I am posting a lot today.

I had a class today that I didn't go to because I still didn't know what room it was supposed to be in -- now I do, but a bit late for that. Still.
The class is Star Trek and Religion.
From the online syllabus, we apparently focus on TOS, TNG, and VOY.
The exclusion of DS9 makes me not only sad, but also rather doubtful as to whether the instructor knows what she's doing. However, my own shamelessly-deep-rooted geekiness in immediately going "omfg if we are talking about religion then WHERE IS MY DEEP SPACE NINE" makes me happy again.
In the last class I had today, the instructor had us each go around the room introducing ourselves and stating one interesting fact therein. One guy's was "I was born in Korea." I had to resist a very strong urge to call out "that ain't all that unusual back where I come from..." Also, there were many Korean conversations on the bus ride home. And that made me happy. It continues to be hard to get adjusted to living in such a terrifyingly whitebread state.
Right now I very strongly wish I had a small kitty to cuddle. Accursed Evermann with your accursed no-mammalian-pets rule. Accursed mecha with your accursed dislike of cats so I can't commiserate about not having a kitty. Accursed... um... dishes, why not. They need doing.

Date: 2004-08-30 05:15 pm (UTC)My dad was stationed in Korea from 1970 to 1972. He did not have good things to say about their roads or cars. Or their DMZ, but that's another story entirely.
