Those of you who have an LJ layout that shows each post's usericon on your lastn page... what the hell style is that? I just checked every single style in the dropdown public list and not one of them was that one...

It's component, and then in the customizations, under presentation, you need to override the default for the userpictures. I don't remember exactly which it is, but it should be obvious upon looking, I think.

Okay, lemme see if I can explain this better now that I've had coffee.

At the top, go to manage and then customize. On that page, you should choose s2. On layout, component should be the fourth one down. After you've switched to those, click the "edit customizations" button, which is on the bottom of the customize page. This should take you to a "customize" page, which has a box with four tabs: layout, colors, presentation and text. The picture override is under presentation, the tenth one down. You'll want to check "override default" and change it to "yes."

If you still can't find the component option, I'm not sure what to tell you.

Ah, I get it. I was still on s1, and if you're still on s1 it doesn't bother to tell you that you'll get more options by choosing s2, which I'm not sure how you can even do if you don't use the new site layout instead of the old purpley one. BRILLIANT

Now to figure out how the heck to tweak an s2 style to see if I can do what I want...

When you're switched over to the S2 style, click on the button on that page that says "Edit customizations". Click over to the "Presentation" tab, then tick the option under "Recent userpicks" to override default.

I don't know if all this would affect your lovely custom layout, though.

Eh, I tested 'em all and none of them had it in by default, at least. It could, I suppose, be a not-on-by-default feature of one or another of the styles.

My old computer got the habit of buzzing loudly -- probably a loose screw connecting one of the drives, given where it was coming from inside the case -- and to make it stop I would repeatedly punch it in the side.

well my computer(s) are only bad because im stupid. i have a bad habit of accidently puting magnetic devices on and around my computers. my last computer crashed because i stuck a magnet on its side.... those were in my less computer savvy days ...hahaha... and the one i have now is a trooper...its survived my cell phone...two cd players... a giant hunk of magnetic metal...and its fighting the cell phone tower outside my window..hahahaha... its only a matter of time before the ol' stick to the side trick stops working!

wellsee thats what i thought...but then one day i was listening to my cd player and had my cell phone underneath and the cd player and it rang and it fucked up the cd player. so i took it apart and found it has magnetic peices and therefore, messes up computers. call it interference, paranoia, or imagination. but i think the parts be different matee (turned into a pirate for that sentence)
