Party time for Snail Dust hata's

I was going to announce that Snail Dust would be coming back soon.

In fact, I was literally working on an image to put up on the sd site announcing the return... when... Paint Shop Pro bit the dust.

Basically now when I try to do ANYTHING it does a memory read error and crashes. Sure, it did that every once in a while before, had been doing it for months, but at least I had a chance to SAVE in between horrific violent crashes. Now the act of TRYING to save crashes the damnable thing.

I dunno now. I really don't. I can't afford to buy a not-six-years-old version of PSP. The version I have of Photoshop is good for minor editing at best, with non-hobbled versions being even more expensive than PSP. And the GIMP is, frankly, useless for what I want to do. I should be able to mix font types in one go of the text tool. I should not have to text a series of notbold words, then text again to add one bold word, then text a third time to add the next notbold words, then add the next bold word in yet ANOTHER action... just THINKING of lining up all those separate textings, when switching to a different selection takes three clicks and there is absolutely no indication of how many layers I have or what might or might not be on them, makes me want to cry. No, literally. It could just be that I'm tired, but looking at GIMP's retarded text tool right now is literally making my eyes get pre-cry-y. Also, who the fuck thinks that it's a good idea to have tools without visible outlines to show you where you're working? Erase erase OOPS I WISH I HAD KNOWN THE ERASER TOOL WAS GOING TO WIPE OUT THAT PART GOLLY AN OUTLINE SURE WOULD'VE BEEN HELPFUL etc. And getting back to the text, it makes text look like shit. And the sizes are all wonked up. Its idea of 15-point is my idea of 11-point. Ugh. Plus the thing CLAIMS that + and - are keyboard shortcuts for zooming in and out but guess what? They don't work! Thus to change zooms it's three clicks each time. WHY? Oh, and the 'crop & resize' dialog doesn't actually resize. It crops and, uh, crops. Click resize? It crops. Fuck you, GIMP. *deep breath, return to toplevel post content*

So I don't know what to do. This might be the end of Snail Dust.

That's really sad. I was really looking foward to a future with more Snail Dust in it.

I hope you're able to obtain a graphics editing program that doesn't suck at some point.

We just need to reinstall Windoze on Jenny's machine to fix these stability issues. And we can get Jenny a nice shiny copy of Paint Shop Pro.

It should. My copy is burned from someone else's and I don't recall having to use a registration key. However, if there is one, I know of a cracking site that you can get the key from.
