Note: this is the spares update for, and should be read after, generation 4.

Previous entries are here.

General warning: sometimes I swear.
Any and all Merrick updates may be tw for fighting, infidelity, miscarriage, abductions (of the alien kind), and death.

The heir for generation 4 was Adrian, and the spouse was the former llama cultist Kaylynn. The mainline kids were triplets -- Lyman, Doc Boy, and Arlene. This is the spares update, with Adrian's sibs and their offspring. Most of it was written as I was playing, some months ago.

YOUR GENERATION 4 SPARES:

DREW

TOBY

ALDO

KURT

So it looks from my screenshot folder like I started off playing Kurt, but I've decided I'd rather go with birth order, so here's the adventures of oldest child Drew!

Drew: Sup.

And his lovely wife Tamasyn!

Tamasyn: You know you deleted this shirt halfway through playing us, right?

Yes, well. Enjoy it while you have it.

Speaking of enjoying things while you have them -- Tam rolled this fear her first night as Drew's wife, before I'd even changed her clothes. THERE IS A PRETTY EASY WAY TO AVOID GETTING CAUGHT CHEATING, TAMASYN, AND IT IS KNOWN AS *NOT DOING IT*. Honestly, if you wanted to still make out with lots of dudes you shouldn't have gotten married. Or married a Romance sim who would be okay with your making out with lots of dudes, that's fine too.

Of course, when her first pregnancy ends in miscarriage I find it hard to keep yelling at her too much.

She manages to cheer herself up with such activities as "make out with my husband so that it's too awkward for the telescope spyee to yell at him".

OH, AND THEN WITH "GETTING PREGNANT WITH TWINS"

Tamasyn: That's odd, it seems rather drafty in here...

I don't think that Tam had a job, but she's a Family sim, and Drew's a Fortune with a want to earn $100k, so I figure she can stay home and take care of the babies. Drew goes into the Paranormal career track because

RESURRECT-O-NOMITRON

RESURRECT

O

NOMITRON

This is the first one I've gotten, so I'm pretty stoked. Now I can make zombies if I want!

Drew's house is one of my favorites I've ever built -- it's based on this one, flipped. Well, I mean, the inside isn't super-accurate, but the outside is about as close as I could get.

At ground level is the driveway/garage, and steps leading up to the front door...

Inside the door, there's a wall in front of you, with a corridor going off to the let's say north (containing doors to a game room + two bathrooms, and leading to the kitchen) and another off to the right/east (currently off-screen, and which we'll come back to).

Taking that left corridor and walking straight down it northwards, you come to the kitchen and dining area (with the camera currently standing in an empty corner that will hold a bar eventually).

If you turn around, you see that to the east there's a living room area...

And here it is, from the northeast corner, facing southwest. You can see the stairs up, which are vaguely centered in the floor.

South past the stairs is a little reading nook thing.

And west from the nook is the front door again!

The large brown-floored area is what we just walked, clockwise from bottom left (aka southwest). Far west side is the two bathrooms and the game room I mentioned earlier, and in the center are the two stairs leading up (previously pictured), one more bathroom, and a single stair leading down.

Second floor would probably be more interesting if I'd decorated any of it yet. Five bedrooms plus large hall-ish room in center plus open area over the living room below. Bottommost floor is boringmost, though, since it's just the stairs down to the garage and a little basement area for me to chuck cheat objects.

Wait a second -- five bedrooms?

Dot here is --

Dot: EXCUSE ME I AM TRYING TO READ

Sorry. Dot here is one of the twins Tamasyn had first...

...while Chex is the other.

Then there are two younger girls,

Xula

and Victoria.

...wow, the naming theme for Drew's kids is pretty nigh un-google-able.

Chex is more or less a faceclone of Drew, and Xula is almost identical to Tam (who is herself a crossbreed between [livejournal.com profile] kathsy's Gregg and [livejournal.com profile] pixelcurious's Rory).

Good times.

Let's see... next in birth order would be Toby!

She marries her fiance Chandler,

who has like everything in the universe shoved into his pockets.

...who the hell is Max?

Chandler moved in as a criminal mastermind. I picture him as sort of a kinder, gentler supervillain.

He and Toby have some kids, life goes on, blah blah. Then at some point -- I no longer remember exactly when -- we wind up with the saga of what I call the Creepy Baby Mask.

Because I deleted some skins, and one of them was in use by a baby, and apparently when you change a deleted-skin baby at the changing table, their body disappears.

But not their face.

Creepy baby mask: Goo.

Chandler: Good creepy baby mask.
Creepy baby mask: :D

Chandler: Now I'll just levitate you on up here...

Chandler: ...and...

Chandler: Whoaaaa! Where'd that baby come from?

As I mentioned once before in a stand-alone post, Toby's method of eating is apparently to hold the bowl up near her face and scream at it until the food leaps into her mouth in terror.

Also mentioned in a stand-alone post, Toby's house apparently ensnares the unwary, trapping them in a lightless, doorless subterranean chamber until they pass out.

And nearly die.

(I added a door after this little event.)

Oh, and Toby later becomes my first sim to earn a cowplant.

She keeps it in a shed out back.

For the uninitiated, the cowplant will literally eat sims, thus killing them.

It will then convert the victim's lifeforce into a substance which the cowplant owner can milk and drink to earn a few more days of life.

Cowplant: th̵e ̨c͡ake͟ ̖̻ e̝̥̥̮a̖̪̣̺̞̖͈t͔̩̘ ̪̣̥̭͇͈͍̀t̨̲h̘͇͜e҉̟̰̣ ̱͓̩͖c̘̝̰͎a̭̝̝͈͔̖̠k̺͔̤e̵͉̹͍̝͔ ͞͡҉̛̂ͦͥ͏̫̹t̖̠̟̺̜ͨ̃̓͌ͣ̌h͂ͣͨ̈́ͨ̌̏͏̺e̟̫ ̧̲̗͈͖̟̘̻c̩͈͚̜͎̐͌̃̏a̞̲͔͚̹̙k͉͓̺̓̐̎ͪͥ̾̐ͅȇ̊̏̓͢ ̒ͧ̂ĭ̎s̘̥͍͋ͪͥ̐́ ̳̖̬̹̹ͬ͐̈́ͨͪͬ̋͝d̶͓͐e͙͉̱̫̔ͬl̦͈̺̳̻̭̉ͫ͒̋͆̚i̞ͅc̶̮̰̗̮̦͙̺ͪͬͯͫi͙͓ͅo͙̦͇̜̳͂́̃̊̿̇ṳ̹̉̅s̟͚̝̯̳̣̞̿̄̐͛̿̂͑

I'm... not that surprised, considering. At least the cowplant is a quick death, unlike being eaten by the house.

Speaking of the house, here it is. It's modelled on these plans.

It also makes extensive use of these flowerbeds because I'd just downloaded them when I was landscaping.

Inside the narrow brick area that actually reaches the ground is the deathchamber an area to chuck cheat objects. Then up the stairs and in the front door is

the living room,

which leads directly to the kitchen.

Off the kitchen and behind the stairs is a little hallway going off to two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Then upstairs is a little landing to some more bedrooms and a bathroom and stuff. Really the inside of the house is kind of boring.

Oh, and kids: Toby has three.

Alex is the oldest,

then comes Roger

and Karen. Who has this weird blurred look about her face that I really like.

thennnnnn

Aldo's house!

Scot starts me off with natural twins, because he is a jerkface. I mean, yes, the house I moved Aldo into is kind of ridiculously super-huge, so it would make sense to start filling it up with babies, but. The thing about being ridiculously super-huge is that it's expensive to decorate, so half the rooms don't even have floors until the oldest kids are in high school.

And Scot, for one, definitely notices the problem -- at least, right around the time he stops getting to sleep in his own bed because there are more children than I can afford single beds for. That's when he begins to fear the coming of any further spawn. No more, he seems to say. Please, no more. I am sorry for every wrong I have ever done. Just make the babies stop.

Aldo: just playing pirate in the bathtub while my personal helicopter lands outside nbd

It really helps once Aldo firsts hits her LTW of topping the business career, and then lands a $50,000 bonus.

House!

Here it is again...

As you go up the front pathway, you pass the garage on the right and approach the gates in front of you...

The gates lead to the loggia separating a sort of mother-in-law suite on the left (currently being used to store junk) and the main house on the right.

Continuing along the loggia, you can see part of the fenced inner yard to the left. Mainly the pool from this angle. At the end of the loggia is the front door of the house (even though there are other doors closer to the street), and that leads into a little entry room thing. THAT room leads to the master bedroom and a bathroom, which are both kind of boring.

It also leads to the library, though, which is kind of sweet,

and also to the kitchen/dining room, which is impossible to get a good picture of from any particular angle so I went with this way and cut out the kitchen portion entirely. There's a nice view of the yard! Also I love that floor.

On through the kitchen/dining is the living room, which is also impossible to screenshot but I worked really hard on it so I'll do multiple angles. The door back to the kitchen is more or less behind the camera here.

Spinning counter-clockwise, there's this sweet little alcove with stuff

and then I totally thought I had a third screenshot but apparently not.

Upstairs is kind of boring, just kids' bedrooms and a bathroom and an open area that would have toys in it if the kids hadn't pretty much grown up by the time I could afford to put stuff there.

In the yard, to one side of the pool is a little barbecue area (just past the MIL suite).

Then at the very back of the walled area is a nice little garden.

It lights up!

Basically I like this house. It comes from here originally.

And chilluns:

Twins Exoth and Chappy Chappy;

hipster kid and currently last member of the entire Merrick family to have the same mouth as the founder, Ourorya;

and Larry bringing up the rear. He's actually only a day from teen as of this picture, but he's pretty much a clone of Scot and Chappy Chappy so whatever.

No more babies, you guys.

Aldo and Scot: K.

Okay then! Last of all it's on to the family of Kurt, the youngest of the generation 4 Merricks.

He starts off with a shotgun wedding, what with the imminent birth-giving.

Thank you for the moneys, Forrest! I will use them to buy things.

Kurt: I have a happy family.

Uhh. Of course you do.

His house is kind of slapped together rather than built off of any kind of plan, so I don't bother to screenshot it really. But here it is from the front, at least, with the whole family gathered around.

The oldest kid is Chuck. He's a Knowledge sim who wants to be a mad scientist. He's also a grumpy little asshole, which is why I put him in the surly-teen hat.

Then there are the twins,

Tycho

and John Gabriel.

Last of all is Anne Claire, who is just so adorably prissy-looking that I can't even stand it.

As a surly teenager, Chuck may like to glare and punch his other hand while watching his younger sibs talk...

...but as a barely-less-surly child, he actually quite enjoyed hanging out with them. Hormones, man. I dunno how else to explain it.

(Maybe the hormones also explain why he likes to strike silly poses while drinking his booze"drink".)

Kurt still hasn't quite made, but is steadily working toward, his dream of topping the criminal career.

His husband Forrest hasn't quite made, but is steadily working toward, his dream of topping the medical career.

Toby just showed up for some reason.

And stared at Forrest for hours while drinking.

Toby: hiiiiiiiii

Kurt: Gosh, I sure have a ~~wacky~~ family, don't I? :D

You sure do, Kurt! And now I will most likely ignore them forever.

So long, generation 4!

So Happy

Yay! I tried not to comment but I felt obligated to tell you how awesome the houses are. Great work! Being into that kind of stuff myself, I am super impressed and jealous.

Aside: Wow these spare kids are absolutely gorgeous. I especially like Xula and Chuck.
