Jun. 21st, 2002 08:40 pmSo tired. So, so tired.
Earlier, shortly after I got home, I briefly entertained notions of napping. Loud cackling from next door dissuaded me. I decided to record laughter to share it, because I want others to realize how dangerously insane this laughter sounds, as well as how annoying it is to hear it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
So I get the laptop turned on, mic set up by the window... and loudly cackling neighborlady shuts up.
She then proceeded to be silent for a couple hours.
So just now I was thinking of napping. I paused Sims, intending to announce my nappage to those in SocialMUX.
And at that instant, neighborlady starts up her screeching cackles again.
I wait a while to see if she'll shut up, but she won't, so I sigh and set up laptop to record again.
And she then goes silent.
If you tell me this is coincidence, I will call you a blatant liar.
Oh, and also, mom just came home and I got in trouble for the gate being locked. Apparently landlady did it while we were out, and it's my fault.HOORAY!!!
[Edit] Well, she was silent for the ten minutes the recorder was going. Then she started up again. So I turned on recording again. Now she has gone silent. In about seven minutes recording will end. Who wants to bet she then starts up again?
Not, not, NOT coincidence. Not by a mile.

I recorded for ten minutes.
Nothing.
So I recorded for ten more minutes.
Nothing.
Recording stopped, I leaned forward to start another ten-minute recording.
And in the instant I leaned forward, neighborlady cackled.
Two seconds too late to tape.
Coincidence?
I've set another ten-minute recording going. It's got maybe one minute left. So far it is devoid of the sound I am attempting to record.
One cackle in half an hour, and it happens to fall within the perhaps ten seconds total during which I'm not taping.
Coincidence?
Nothing.

Cackling neighborlady. Imagine this every night, sometimes all night, until you give up and sleep on the couch. Did I mention every night? EVERY night. Without fail. Sometimes the others join in, even. And you never know if or when they will ever stop.
