Well, that was interesting.
Jul. 5th, 2003 05:34 pmSo we were supposed to leave here 10ish yesterday morning to be at mechagrandma's at 11. Naturally, seeing as mecha is a big stally stupid, we didn't get going till about 11:30. Then we got very, very lost, because of confusing directions. I got to be the one to hold the CD player since mechacarradio broke. Apparently the CD player skips constantly unless I'm holding it, in which case it skips like once every HOUR because I forget and shift my leg too fast. I keep CD players from skipping. <wigu>It's my POWER.</wigu>
Finally we got to the place at... um... 1ish, I think. Or 2ish. Mechagrandma is supposedly all evil and stuff, but she seemed okay to me. Not the nicest person on earth, but not a demon from hell or anything like that.
Of course, because I suck, I had to go and be sickish at mechagrandma's house. Blerg.
Then we were supposed to be at mechasister (Sarah) and mechasisterboyfriend (Ted) 's house at 6. So naturally, when we left grandmahouse at 5:45, mecha went off in the wrong direction in the hopes of getting food at this one place. That was closed. Then we sort of got into a fenderbender -- no damage to mechacar, what mecha said was a TINY scratch on paint of other car. Other guy was apparently very eager to say 'let's just forget this', so it was probably at least partially his fault. Mecha and I aren't sure because neither of us saw him until about a half-second before the thud.
Then car went all die-y -- mecha lost steering in the middle of a turn at 35mph with a van right behind us. Not good. So we pulled off in a Wal*Mart parking lot and called mechamom and asked her and Quentin to come get us. It's nice having a cellphone and people to bail you out; when momcar dies, she gets to walk to a payphone and taxi home from there.
Of course, mechamom wasn't happy that we'd gone off for tacos when mecha's grandparents had been sitting waiting for hours to see him and me.
Off to Sarah and Ted's, and we set fireworks off. They were SHINY. Much better than the ones that we can have in Cali. Rockety type things! I've never gotten to play with those! Two-foot-long sparklers! Great stuff.
Sarah and Ted have KITTENS. TINY KITTENS. HAND-HELD KITTENS. Adorable. They also have the mommycat, and a dog, and they were nice, but the kittens... cuuuuuuute.
Then we stayed the night because mecha no longer had a car. Mecha took couch where he proceeded to sleep for about eleventy billion hours, and I took sleeping bag on floor. Had a nice wind tunnel effect going with the fans, it was pleasant.
Stuff happened today, I'm too lazy to list it out all now plus it's no more interesting than anything else I mentioned. Suffice to say we're back now. Yep.
