Oh, yeah, Galaxies publish 9 goes live today. I'd forgotten.
Which reminds me.
An Open Letter To The Galaxies Devs:
All the new content is nice. New content helps keep the game fresh. Very true. But the problem is, you're continuing to weigh down the rather clunky codebase with new stuff. I would *far* prefer not a *single* new publish for as long as it took, until you folks tightened things up a bit.
My client should not sometimes crash when I'm in Coronet. Why do I have to load the five billion people in the cantina when I'm not even in there? When I'm a street AWAY from it, even? It makes no sense to me, and makes gameplay rather difficult.
The conning system needs work too. Things con more difficult for me with my carbine equipped, yet it is my carbine I switch to whenever I realize that I won't be able to beat my enemy unarmed, because it makes things easier to kill. There is also the question of why kaadu females, conning white, are harder to kill than npcs conning yellow. If you're going to go by a color system, stick to it.
Moenia still needs work, a year after the game came out. It is consistently far more laggy than other cities, even if there are no other players there. Granted, it's not as bad as last summer, when poor Neerai would run 30 meters -- glitch back to where she started -- run 30 meters -- glitch back again -- for three minutes straight, but still. As empty as it can be sometimes, it should be one of the easiest cities to get around in. Instead, it nearly rivals Theed for laggedness.
Finally, there is no reason why sometimes the bazaar should be insanely slow and other times it's just fine. Pls to be reworking it. I'll wait. I'm patient. New content is not as important as a non-painful game experience.
I love Galaxies, I really do. But part of that love is knowing that it could be so much better if the devs were looking at the basics instead of finding new frills to add around the edges. And not everyone loves it as much as I do. New quests might bring them in, sure, but will it make them stay? Or will the one-frame-per-second gameplay in some cities make them leave once they've tired of hunting Gorax?
Thank you for not actually reading this since all I did was post it on my LJ,
me.
