I just added all my mp3s to WinAmp in one lump, then went through and did my tiredness-addled best to delete the duplicates, and the stuff I've been meaning to delete from my actual hard drive, and anything that isn't technically music (I have about 40 one-minute clips of rain falling in Mountain View, CA, for instance). Then I fixed the file info on the tracks that were left. Then I generated a playlist.

I had crap for connection... although, I was networked, so I ripped them from someone else's drive, like, instantly (when it let me, which was occasionally)...

Got most of the Simpsons episodes that way, too, although I deleted them to free up room--damn my piddly 30 Gig drive!

I've never had contact with the original -- a friend just alerted me to the existence of the remix. I would quite like to hear the original.

And I used to have the music video, but I'm not sure if that was before or after I got my new hard drive... do I still get forgiveness points?

The original was never really meant to get out, as I never considered it the slightest bit finished. But I posted it to the T&R message board so people could hear it, and then suddenly Patrick used it in a music video, so I figured it was done enough. =] Then I sent it to a friend, who remixed it, and I posted the remix on the message board, and then it got to you by means of magic elves, I suppose.

Note that "Balloon must die" is something of a T&R message-board in-joke, as it had this horriffic Javascript banner ad which made a hot air balloon float across your browser, obscuring the actual content of the document and just generally being quite evil.

So THAT'S where balloondeath came from! It's become a regular part of the weird little language I share with a couple of my friends, but I didn't know it had a sensical explanation.
