So I figured, hey, it's time for a fun little post that ISN'T about cicadas. Because really, while imminent death is entertaining and all, even it can get a little old if it's the only topic of discussion.

Thus we now present a pictoral essay: Cartoon Characters Jenny Has Found Cute.

First, Disney's Pinocchio. Now, I'm not actually aware of ever having found this fellow particularly physically attractive. However, according to my mother, when I was four years old I was convinced that I was someday going to marry him. I think that qualifies him for at least an honorary position on this list.

Then there is (an exceedingly bad picture of) Dexter Douglas, more mundane alter ego to the title character of the all-too-short-lived cartoon Freakazoid. I liked it when he got screen time, too. Hey, what can I say. Geeks are hot. And I've apparently held that opinion for some years now.

Sadly, I am at least in some ways a boring, ordinary girl, and thus I have to admit to having found bishies attractive. But surprisingly few. Tsuzuki and Hisoka from Yami no Matsuei/Descendents of Darkness are really the only ones I've ever found particularly cute. Spike from Cowboy Bebop gets non-pictoral honorable mention for being insanely kickass while also being not painful to look at.

Then there is Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler from X-Men: The Teen Years, which come to think of it I haven't seen in months, so I guess it got cancelled. I've got much better picturage of him on the laptop, but I'm too lazy to boot the thing up, so this will have to do. Mmm... fuzzy and blue. Except since it is The Teen Years, he might also be fuzzy, blue jailbait. Hrm. Whoops.

Finally, the most recent entry to the list, and the one that made me realize that the list was actually by this point long enough to perhaps be interesting to the bored: Coop, from the new Cartoon Network series Megas XLR. I love this show. It's got a great sense of humor, the art style is a lovely blend of anime and home-grown stuff, and best of all, the main character is very, very nice to look at, at least in my opinion. Of course, he is very much of the not bright, but that hardly detracts from the viewing pleasure. Sadly there are no good pictures that I can find... guess there aren't enough fansites yet for Google to start turning them up high on search results. There's a nice little video clip from his bio section of the official website, though.

In summation, it appears that I am attracted to the following: enchanted talking wooden puppets; geeks who are not currently their much more bizarre alter ego; blue fuzzy teleporting elves; nice big chubby video game addicts; and dead Japanese semigovernmental agents.

Um, yeah. Well, take out the corpses, the puppets and the nonexistent creatures, and it sounds about right.
