So am I trustworthy for another year, or does "over 30" include "30 years plus one minute"? I was never clear on that. I should find a hippie and ask him! ...and then, since said hippie would probably himself be over 60, he'd mumble something about how he's pretty sure it was supposed to be metaphorical, or something. And then tell me to get off his lawn.

Harlan Ellison had it as no one over 35, back in '69 or '71 or something like that when his The Glass Teat was published.

I choose to believe it was in 69, since it's funnier that way. And then in 74 he raised it to 40, then in 79 to 45...

I can't be bothered to do the actual research, but I'd like to think he officially said it made sense for people to no longer trust him, while continuing to criticize the other people that they couldn't trust even more.
